Matt Cutts, the Google master, in an interview recently listed several methods of link building that are not only effective, but good for the community. Cutts discussed methods such as social media, blogging, original research and much more. Basically, it all boiled down to creating something noteworthy that people will want to share. Link building is without a doubt one of the key methods for driving traffic and page rank to your site. What a way to start the morning, with news that a Bulgarian city official has been sacked for milking a virtual cow in popular Facebook title Farmville. During government meetings. Dimitar Kerin, a member of the Plovdiv city council in the country's capital, Sofia, had been warned - along with several of his colleagues - three weeks ago that they were to cease playing the game while at work. Kerin didn't listen, and earlier this week was sacked as a councilman after he lost a vote of confidence amongst his co-workers. Kerin didn't go quietly. A common question often asked is whether you should add tags to blog posts? Tags are keywords that can be added to posts to illustrate to the search engines what the post is all about. Similar to Meta data in websites these keywords should highlight key areas within the text that are of particular mention. Last year Google announced that it no longer uses the keyword tag as a valuable SEO metric and here we can hear Matt Cutts discuss the issue further. In summary the tags are fairly disregarded in blogs as well as Google will more than likely be able to distinguish what your content is about from the text!
