A few things to ask before giving your website a facelift!

Below is a list of a few things DSM think you need to ask before giving your website a facelift!

What do you want your website to achieve?

You need to address exactly what you want to achieve from your website, whether it’s increased sales or a cult following. If you know what you want from the outset and stick to it, you’ll get what you want from your website.

Who is your target audience?

You have to make sure that your new site will appeal to your target market. Whether is age range or interests, you have to make sure that your site will appeal to those you’re targeting.

Who needs to be involved?

We’ve all heard the phrase “too many cooks spoil the broth” well; too many people can spoil a website. All those involved need to be on the same page as far as the direction of the website goes, otherwise you’ll end up with a mish mash of styles and ideas that won’t appeal to anybody, let alone your all-important target audience.

Do you know what interests your customers?

If your customers are likely to be mobile on social media platforms, are you addressing this in your new site by integrating social media in the redesign? Considering blogs that contain information relating to your products or services could be what gives you the edge over your competitors.

Will you have an online marketing strategy?

Whether using SEO or filling the site with social media tools, you need to make a decision early on. Social media tools are helpful in that your audience spread the word about you, but you cannot rely solely on this. Some active online marketing is needed to ensure your site works for you, rather than spending money making it look great, for nobody to see it.

Do need to update your site? How often?

Will your site be working for you as an interactive tool, bursting with new products and information? Or, will it figure as a place online for customers to gather information about your company any time of the day? Whatever you decide, remember, if your site is often updated with new offers or content, people are more likely to return to see what is new.
