Apple’s new smartphone, iPhone 4 has some serious issues

The hottest new smart phone is now in town but already the reports of problems are flooding in. Whilst the problems appear to be minor at the moment they could end up being a real pain in the ass for some customers.

It comes with disappointment that the 2010 super gadget smart phone comes with hardware and software bugs which are more than enough to irate many avid customers. Could this be the downfall of Apple, have they bitten off more than they can chew? Hmm!!

The main problems at the moment with the iPhone 4 device include a discolouration in the screen, similar to the issue in the 27” iMac’s and poor antenna reception when the user grasps the handset.

Users have made numerous complaints about yellow blotches and lines across the High definition retina display which isn’t noticeable at first but becomes obviously apparent after a short while. This is particularly disturbing as it was due to be the iPhone 4’s biggest asset as no other smart phone as yet dared create such a high resolution screen.

*Newsflash: The discolouration is dissappearing after time. It is being caused by a bonding agent which has yet to dry properly with Apple manufacturing the devices so fast.

The antenna issue appears to be when a user makes more than one connection with their skin on the metal surround of the device which creates a ‘short’ so to speak and the user becomes an extension to the antenna thus reducing signal power. This is frustrating because the most common talking position is to clasp the phone in your hand meaning your fingers and thumb/palm will most likely causing contact. However, this could be a clever money making ploy by Apple to make you spend more.

Apple have released their new bumper covers for the new device which act as a nice barrier against the usual harms presented during a mobile device’s life. However at £25 each is this a joke? The rubber bumper is simply a cover which prevents contact of hands with the metal antenna. And because no one else is producing them yet Apple can charge whatever they like.

Various theories include the thought that Apple only tested the device in a rubber case to hide the iPhone in the testing thus not creating ‘the short’. However this would come as a surprise as Apple are generally pretty meticulous about their product testing.

But with all new technology there are times when it’s worth holding out for the update and it would definitely seem to be the case with Apple’s latest release. Just because something is brand new and has never been tried before doesn’t mean that it’s going to be successful. But with the flood of complaints all over the social networks let’s hope Apple resolves the issues shortly or they’ll be losing a lot of customers.

Apple will be releasing the iPhone 4 in white end of July which has been delayed due to manufacturing issues, let’s hope they resolve the other problems users have been finding all day today.
