Autodesk Maya Fluid FX app for iPhone and iPad [Video]
A Little Q & A on Something Awesome
Q. What do Titanic, Avatar and Inception all have in common?
Q. What is Autodesk Maya?
A. The Aston Martin of visual effects software… Here’s more from the horse’s mouth:
Autodesk® Maya® software offers artists an end-to-end creative workflow with comprehensive tools for 3D animation, modelling, simulation, visual effects, rendering, matchmoving and compositing on a highly extensible production platform. All these capabilities are combined into a single application offering CG artists exceptional value. Newly available for the Mac OS® X 64-bit operating system, Maya 2011 delivers a revitalised user interface, enhanced viewport interaction, new 3D editorial capabilities, integrated colour management and improved character animation.
Q. Can I get it?
A. Of course, but it’ll cost you… that’s putting it mildly – You’ll need one hell of a computer system to run the software (expensive), and quite the bank balance to buy this badboy!
Q. Why tell me about something this awesome, if I can’t get my hands on it?
A. Warm up technique, bring you up, slam you back down…then hit you with the good news…
Q. And that would be?
A. You can now get an Autodesk Fluid FX App for you iPad or iPhone – Goodtimes!
Enough of the Q & A, as you can imagine the App is nowhere near comparable in power or what you can do with it compared to running Maya on a turbo-master-kung-fu-legend-super-computer, but it’s still awesome nonetheless. Especially when you consider that only a few years ago it would cost you thousands to create these kinds of effects, and now you can create them on your mobile phone!
What does it do?
Basically the app lets you manipulate pictures and images with a range of stunning effects, as you’ll see on the video below, that’s not where it ends. You can create lovely smoke and fire elements on your iPad or iPhone.
