Timberland creates 3D website as part of new online marketing strategy
Timberland, the clothing company, not the music artist has launched 5 micro sites, one in 3D, as part of their new online marketing campaign and in attempt to reach all of its wide ranging audience.
It began with an overhaul of their online store, which re-launched recently and the micro sites are in place to push key ranges and aspects of its brand to wide-ranging audiences.
The individual sites are designed to highlight aspects such as the brand heritage, showcasing its womens range, illustrating the iconic Timberland boot and one showcasing the clothing in 3D…awesome!
Named as the largest and most environmentally-focused marketing campaign yet – Nature Needs Heroes™ is a clever YouTube advert with an interactive website to promote the brands environmental policies within their boot design.
The campaign showcases the Earthkeepers™ product collection and uses outdoor imagery and humour to convey the serious message of environmental accountability – the notion that even small acts of environmental action make a difference.
Bevan Bloemendaal, senior director for Timberland’s global creative services says “The nature needs heroes push inspires consumers to consider what actions they might take to be heroes for the outdoors”. He goes on to say “Kicking it up a creative notch to 3D was to make the storytelling that much more memorable, fun and leading edge”.
If you haven’t already seen the Nature Needs Heroes™ TV commercial, have a look below (Did it make you laugh? Cry? Want to get up off the couch and go be a hero yourself?)
You can also experience Nature Needs Heroes through the new, high-tech interactive microsite where you can check out the Earthkeepers™ product in 360-degree detail, go behind-the-scenes of the commercial shoot and learn more about some of the recycled and renewable materials Timberland use.
Timberland will also be launching a new Facebook “Virtual Forest” application, whereby users will be able to create their own forest (or join a friend’s) online, which will result in Timberland planting live trees in Haiti to supplement the reforestation efforts there. Stay tuned for more!
